GOC suspends Glasgow based optometrist
The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to suspend Uzma Afzal, an optometrist based in Glasgow, from its register for six months.
A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found her fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct. This is in relation to her failing to carry out adequate eye tests, falsifying records and failing to maintain adequate records.
Ms Afzal has until 15 March 2021 to appeal her suspension.
