GOC suspends Hove based student optometrist from register

The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to suspend Amanwil Takla, a student optometrist based in Hove, from its register for five months.

A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found his fitness to undertake training impaired by reason of misconduct. This is in relation to creating and submitting a false tenancy agreement to his University for the purpose of dishonestly claiming accommodation costs.

Mr Takla has until 14 July 2023 to appeal against his suspension.
