GOC suspends Southampton based optometrist from register

The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to suspend Zbigniew Ashleigh, an optometrist based in Southampton, from its register for four months.

A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found his fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct. This is in relation to sending an unsolicited email to a Member of Parliament which was found to be discriminatory and racist.

Mr Ashleigh has until 5 April 2023 to appeal against his suspension.
