Summary

The overriding objective of the GOC in conducting a criminal investigation or bringing a criminal prosecution is to protect, promote and maintain the health and safety of the public.

This protocol governs the conduct of investigations and the decision on whether to
prosecute suspected criminal offences under the Opticians Act 1989, as amended by the Opticians Act 1989 (Amendment) Order 2005 and related legislation ("the Act").
