Call for New Council Committee Members 

We are looking for 13 new members to join four of our Council’s committees: Companies, Education, Registration and Standards, to play a vital role in helping to shape the future of optical regulation.  

Each committee plays a key role in enhancing our work and informing the decisions made by Council. The Committees are:  

  • Companies – advises Council and other Committees on matters relating to business registrants. We have five vacancies for members representing the interests of body corporates (business registrants). 
  • Education – advises the Council and other committees on optical training and education. We have three vacancies: two lay members and one dispensing optician. 
  • Registration – advises the Council on registration issues, including the rules governing registration and publication of the registers. We have one vacancy available for a lay member. 
  • Standards – advises the Council on the standards of conduct and performance expected of current and potential registrants. We have four vacancies: two lay members, one dispensing optician and one registered medical practitioner. 

Successful candidates will be expected to commit two to four days per annum and includes renumeration of £319 per day, in accordance with our member fees policy.
