GOC earns Bronze Standard award for Diversity, Equality and Inclusion

We are proud to share that we have achieved a Bronze TIDEmark award from the Employers Network for Equality and Inclusion (ENEI) in recognition of our progress in Diversity, Equality and Inclusion.

TIDE assessments allow us to benchmark our performance against other organisations and measure our progress in cultivating a positive and inclusive culture.

We earned an overall score of 68%, which places the GOC in the second highest stage of the TIDE roadmap. The report analysed our progress against several areas:

  1. Your Workforce
  2. Strategy & Plan
  3. Leadership & Accountability
  4. Recruitment & Attraction
  5. Training & Development
  6. Other Employment Practices
  7. Communication & Engagement
  8. Procurement

The evaluation highlighted our strength in EDI strategy and planning, where we achieved a score of 95%. TIDE evaluation allows us to pinpoint the specific areas we, as an organisation, need to focus on going forward. In our 2023/24 report, these areas were leadership and accountability, training and development, and procurement.

We have completed several initiatives as part of our EDI strategy for 2020-24, including training for all staff on structural discrimination, training for managers on reasonable adjustments, and are currently working on an organisational management style guide. We have also started an ongoing piece of work looking at our EDI data and this, along with many other objectives, are outlined in our EDI Action Plan 2024-25.

Whilst we’ve made some positive changes so far, we know there is still work for us to do. As part of our upcoming corporate strategy for 2025-30, we will be introducing a new EDI strategy which will cover many of the areas above through our four key principles:

  1. Be active in addressing inequality and preventing discrimination;
  1. Promote and reflect diversity;
  1. Foster inclusivity and accessibility; and
  1. Build a culture of confidence in EDI.

We look forward to continuing our work to progress our EDI initiatives and ensure that EDI is embedded in everything that we do.
