GOC erases Crewe based dispensing optician from register
The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to erase Ben Burnage, a dispensing optician based in Crewe, from its register.
A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found his fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct. This is in relation to falsifying a patient’s visual field results and dishonestly withholding clinical data which showed a potentially pathological result.
Mr Burnage has until 8 August 2023 to appeal against his erasure, during which time he is suspended from the register under an immediate suspension order.
