GOC erases Huddersfield based optometrist from register
The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to erase Yaqut Khan, an optometrist based in Huddersfield, from its register.
A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found his fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct. This is in relation to failing to provide adequate standards of care to multiple patients, including failing to conduct tests adequately, as well as inappropriately amending patients’ records. The Committee found his actions to be dishonest.
Mr Khan has until 31 May 2024 to appeal against his erasure, during which time he is suspended from the register under an immediate suspension order.
