GOC suspends Cardiff based dispensing optician from register
The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to suspend Bethan John, a dispensing optician based in Cardiff, Wales, from its register for twelve months.
A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found her fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct and a conviction. This is in relation to driving under the influence of alcohol and failing to declare this conviction to the GOC. The Committee found the latter action to be dishonest.
Ms John has until 29 December 2024 to appeal against her suspension, during which time she is under an immediate suspension order.
