GOC suspends Ilford based optometrist from register

The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to suspend Simon Rose, an optometrist based in Ilford, from its register for six months.

A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found his fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct. This is in relation to failing to assess and accurately record clinical information and retrospectively amending clinical notes to cover up any failure to make an adequate record of previous sight test results. The Committee found these actions to be inappropriate and dishonest.

Mr Rose has until 12 February 2024 to appeal against his suspension.
