Judgement concerning electronic service

On 22 November 2021, the high court approved a consent order that had been agreed between the Association of Optometrists (AOP) and General Optical Council (GOC), following an application by a registrant. The GOC accepted that its method of serving a notice on this registrant, in 2020, did not comply in full with the provisions governing service.

We have recently consulted on a detailed policy for service of notices, which will ensure fairness to our registrants as well as compliance with the legislation.
