Optical practice staff in England can now book their vaccination appointment

All optical practice staff in England, including locum, are now able to book their vaccination appointments in a vaccination centre or community pharmacy through the NHS COVID-19 Vaccination Booking Service, until 28 February 2021.

For a limited time, optical practice staff will be able to book appointments online, or if this is not possible, by calling 119 free of charge, 7am to 11pm, 7 days a week. Staff will need to declare that they are a healthcare worker as part of the booking process.

At the appointment staff will be asked to verbally declare that they are a healthcare worker, the type of work they do and the name of their employer. It is recommended to bring appropriate identification and proof of employment, such as staff ID badge, recent payslip or letter from their employer dated within the last three months. 

We encourage all of our registrants to take advantage of this opportunity and book their COVID-19 vaccination. As a sector it is important that we continue to work together to ensure a safe environment for all patients and staff in line with our Standards of Practice.
