PSA report into ethical experiences of healthcare professionals during COVID-19 pandemic
We welcome the publication of a research report by Professor Deborah Bowman, former GOC Council Member and Professor of Medical Ethics, into the ethical experiences of healthcare professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic. The report was commissioned by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Our Director of Strategy, Marcus Dye, said: “We welcome the publication of this research, which paints a sobering picture of the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on our registrants and their colleagues in other healthcare professions.
Professor Bowman, through her work with healthcare professionals, has identified a number of important issues relevant to healthcare education and training, professional standards and guidance, and the work of regulators more generally, which we will seek to mitigate through our ongoing work on the reform of education and CET, our future review of our standards and our commitment to continuous improvement of our regulatory policies and processes. We would like to thank the PSA for commissioning this valuable piece of research and are keen to make sure we and our registrants are well-prepared for future challenges.”
The full report is available on the PSA’s website.
