As an optical professional, should I be vaccinated against COVID-19?
All optical practice staff in patient-facing roles are on the priority list to receive the COVID-19 vaccination to help reduce the potential risk of coronavirus, along with other healthcare professionals.
By receiving the vaccination, you are helping to protect yourself, your colleagues and patients from COVID-19 to those most as risk.
It is important that as a healthcare sector we work together to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff in line with our Standards of Practice. We encourage all of our registrants and optical practice staff to be vaccinated when offered.
If you have good reason not to be vaccinated, you must ensure that appropriate procedures are in place to mitigate the risk of coronavirus transmission to patients when they are attending appointments by following appropriate infection prevention and control measures.
