Congratulations to GOC Council member Lisa Gerson, who has been awarded an MBE (Member of the British Empire) in His Majesty The King’s 2026 New Year Honours List.

Updates from the General Optical Council's final meeting of 2025.

The GOC is looking to appoint three new members to its Advisory Panel Companies Committee – two business registrants and one dispensing optician.

We are seeking to appoint one lay member and one registered medical practitioner to our Investigation Committee.  

The General Optical Council has joined nine other health and social care regulators to publish an annual report on whistleblowing disclosures.

The GOC held its third Council meeting of the year on 16 September 2025. The agenda included approving a business case for a thematic review into commercial practices and patient safety, the GOC’s Annual Report 2024-25 and the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Annual Report 2024-25.
