We have published our UK Optical Education 2025 Report for GOC approved qualifications, which provides an analysis of education and training of optical students and trainees and a commentary on sector developments.

The GOC has published research on a risk-based framework for the testing of sight, to understand the risks of the different components of a sight test not being carried out at the same time, by the same person and/or in the same place.

Marc Stoner will join the GOC as Director of Corporate Services, following a competitive recruitment process. His appointment will begin on 1st September 2025.

The GOC has decided to suspend Denton Barcroft, an optometrist based in Dollar in Scotland, from its register for four months.
