GOC recruiting CPD Registrant Reviewers

The General Optical Council (GOC) is recruiting Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Registrant Reviewers to support its quality assurance processes.

The positions are open to all GOC-registered optometrists and dispensing opticians, with experience as a Contact Lens Optician or Independent Prescriber considered advantageous. Reviewers help ensure their fellow GOC registrants are undertaking CPD appropriate to their scope of practice and professional development needs, while maintaining good-quality CPD records.

The GOC is seeking individuals who have strong analytical skills and can interpret complex information, can make well-reasoned and impartial decisions, and have a sound knowledge of CPD requirements. Reviewers will examine CPD records and supporting evidence, provide feedback to registrants, and produce reports on their findings.

Reviews take place twice a year over six-week periods beginning in April and September, and reviewers will also be expected to attend induction and training sessions.

The role is primarily remote, and is paid at £50 per review, with each review estimated to take around two hours each.

The role offers registrants an opportunity to contribute to the quality assurance of the profession's CPD system while sharing their expertise and experience.

The deadline for applications is 7 September 2026
