GOC suspends Bradford based optometrist from register

The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to suspend Mohammad Khan, an optometrist based in Bradford, from its register for two months.

A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found his fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct. This is in relation to failing to carry out an adequate eye examination of a patient, which included not performing an internal eye examination and failing to urgently refer the patient to the hospital eye service despite them presenting with signs of papilledema. Furthermore, Mr Khan failed to maintain accurate patient records and dishonestly documented that he had performed an internal eye examination.

Mr Khan has until 17 July 2025 to appeal against his suspension.
