GOC suspends Manchester based optometrist from register
The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to suspend Francisca Gracia Ruiz, an optometrist based in Manchester, from its register for twelve months.
A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found her fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct. This is in relation to undertaking NHS Ophthalmic services without being listed on the England Ophthalmic Performers List and failing to declare previous fitness to practise history when applying to rejoin the list. The Committee found these actions to be dishonest and/or lacking integrity.
Ms Gracia Ruiz has until 9 March 2026 to appeal against her suspension.
