GOC erases Croydon-based student dispensing optician from register
The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to erase Natasha Masunda, a student dispensing optician based in Croydon, from its register.
A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found her fitness to train impaired on personal and public interest grounds. This is in relation to dishonestly processing false refund transactions to her own personal accounts. Ms Masunda admitted stealing £3,393 in total by processing nine fraudulent refunds on nine separate occasions.
Ms Masunda has until 24 August 2026 to appeal against her erasure, during which time she is under an immediate suspension order.
