GOC suspends Ilford based optometrist from register
The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to suspend Iqra Ikram, an optometrist based in Ilford, from its register for one month.
A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found her fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct. This is in relation to knowingly falsifying a patient prescription and/or submitting it for dispense. Ms Ikram forged her supervisor’s signature and used their GOC registration number on the prescription without permission. The Committee found these actions to be dishonest.
Ms Ikram has until 2 November to appeal against her suspension.
