GOC erases Wolverhampton-based optometrist from register
The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to erase Ajaykumar Patel, an optometrist based in Wolverhampton, from its register.
A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found his fitness to practise impaired by reason of a conviction. In January 2026, he was convicted at Derby Crown Court of multiple child sexual offences.
Ajaykumar Patel has until 30 November 2026 to appeal against his erasure, during which time he is under an immediate suspension order.
