GOC suspends Birmingham based optometrist from register
The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to suspend Abdul Khan, an optometrist based in Birmingham, from its register for 12 months.
A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found his fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct. This is in relation to failing to carry out various aspects of a patient’s sight test, and falsifying said patient’s clinical records to say these had taken place. The Committee found these actions to be dishonest.
Mr Khan has until 13 March 2026 to appeal against his suspension, during which time he is under an immediate suspension order.
