GOC suspends Manchester based optometrist from register
The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to suspend Siddique Chowdhury, an optometrist based in Manchester, from its register for two months.
A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found his fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct. This is in relation to failing to perform an appropriate examination and failing to maintain adequate records, including dishonestly recording information that was not discussed and/or incorrectly recording patient responses.
Mr Chowdhury has until 1 January 2026 to appeal against his suspension, during which time he is under an immediate suspension order.
