GOC suspends Southampton based optometrist from register
The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to suspend Minal Thaker, an optometrist based in Southampton, from its register for four months.
A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found her fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct. This is in relation to dishonestly claiming personal expenses, totalling £1,722.78, as business expenses on several occasions between 2019 and 2023.
Ms Thaker has until 30 May 2025 to appeal against her suspension.
