GOC suspends Wolverhampton based student optometrist from register

The GOC has decided to suspend Ruman Dhaliwal, a student optometrist based in Wolverhampton, from its register for four months.

The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to suspend Ruman Dhaliwal, a student optometrist based in Wolverhampton, from its register for four months.

A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found his fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct. This is in relation to creating false patient records to use as evidence of his work-based assessments. The Committee found his conduct in this to be misleading and dishonest.

Mr Dhaliwal has until 17 March 2026 to appeal against his suspension.
