GOC suspends Sutton based optometrist from register
The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to suspend Jamil Nanda, an optometrist based in Sutton, from its register for twelve months.
A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found his fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct. This is in relation to failing to provide adequate supervision to pre-registrant optometrists. The Committee also found that, on one or more occasions, Mr Nanda knowingly created false patient records for patients that he and/or the pre-registration optometrists had failed to provide accurate and/or adequate care to.
Mr Nanda has until 12 November 2025 to appeal against his suspension.
