GOC suspends Betchworth based dispensing optician from register
The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to suspend Holly Bailey, a dispensing optician based in Betchworth, England, from its register for three months.
A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found her fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct. This is in relation to taking the store’s supply of a regulated prescription only medicine eye drop for personal use without the appropriate consent. The Committee found these actions to be dishonest and unprofessional.
Ms Bailey has until 1 January 2025 to appeal against her suspension.
