GOC suspends Bury based optometrist from register

The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to suspend Zeeshan Sultan, an optometrist based in Bury, from its register for six months.

A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found his fitness to practise impaired by reason of conviction. In October 2023, Mr Sultan was convicted of both possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and assaulting a person and thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm.

Mr Sultan has until 5 February 2025 to appeal against his suspension.
