GOC suspends Solihull based optometrist from register

The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to suspend Nirmal Koasha, an optometrist based in Solihull, from its register for twelve months.

A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found her fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct and/or deficient professional performance. This is in relation to undertaking activities restricted to registered optometrists despite not having met the 2016-2018 CET cycle requirements and having been notified by the GOC that she was not permitted to do so; failing to record necessary patient information; and falsifying clinical data in subsequent examinations.

Ms Koasha has until 26 March 2023 to appeal against her suspension.
